CMCE Lightning Protection
we offer lightning protection systems powered by cutting-edge CMCE technology, manufactured by Sertec. Designed to safeguard vessels, homes, and businesses, our solutions provide unmatched protection by actively eliminating lightning strikes from your designated coverage area.
How CMCE Technology Works
The CMCE devices are engineered to balance the electrical field in the atmosphere during a storm. Here's how they work:
- Constant Field Balancing: The devices continuously drain both positive and negative charges from the electrical field surrounding your property.
- Reducing Potential Difference: By draining this current, the CMCE system prevents the buildup of potential difference between the ground and the clouds, a critical factor in the formation of lightning.
- Hiding Your Assets: This process eliminates the formation of upward streamers—charged pathways that attract lightning to a structure. By removing these streamers, the CMCE effectively camouflages your assets from lightning’s stepped leaders descending from the clouds.
The result is a lightning-free zone, where your vessel, home, or commercial building is shielded from direct strikes.
Sertec: A Leader in Lightning Protection
Sertec has developed and perfected CMCE technology, making it the most reliable solution for lightning prevention. With thousands of installations worldwide, the CMCE devices have maintained a flawless record: no facility protected by CMCE technology has been struck by lightning in over 15 years. Whether you're safeguarding your boat, home, or business, you can trust Sertec’s technology to keep your assets safe.
Why Lightning Protection is Essential for Vessels
Vessels on open water are particularly vulnerable to lightning strikes, leading to:
- Electronic Destruction: Loss of navigation, communication, and entertainment systems.
- Mechanical Damage: Engines, generators, stabilizers, and other critical systems are at risk.
- Crew Safety Threats: Lightning poses serious danger to everyone on board.
- Potential Isolation: Without communication systems, a strike can leave you stranded.
Our CMCE lightning protection system creates a protective zone, preventing these risks and ensuring a safe voyage for your crew and vessel.
Residential & Commercial Lightning Protection
Our solutions extend beyond vessels, offering complete lightning protection for homes and commercial properties. Each year, lightning strikes approximately one out of every 200 homes, and commercial buildings face increased downtime and equipment damage risks. With Sertec's CMCE technology, you can safeguard your property at a fraction of the cost of traditional lightning rods.
Why You Need CMCE UNIT
- Protection from Loss of Life, Vessels, and Extreme Damage to Electronics
Our advanced CMCE lightning protection system actively prevents direct lightning strikes, ensuring the safety of crew members and passengers on vessels. It also protects critical electronic systems, safeguarding them from severe damage caused by electrical surges, which can lead to costly repairs and operational disruptions. - Save on Insurance Expenses
By installing our lightning protection system, commercial builders and homeowners can potentially reduce their insurance premiums. Insurance companies often offer lower rates for properties equipped with proactive safety measures, recognizing the diminished risk of damage from lightning strikes. This leads to significant savings over time. - Creates a Lightning-Free Protected Zone
Our CMCE technology establishes a comprehensive lightning-free zone around any structure, whether it’s a residential home, commercial building, or industrial facility. This system not only protects the primary structure but also extends its coverage to surrounding areas, ensuring safety for all assets within the designated zone. Our proven technology has maintained a flawless record, with no strikes reported on protected facilities in over 15 years.
How Lightning Works
As storm clouds move over the Earth, they accumulate energy until the electrical potential difference between the clouds and the ground becomes significant. When this potential exceeds the Earth’s charge, the cloud discharges energy by sending down negatively charged “leaders.” Simultaneously, positively charged objects—such as boats, homes, buildings, towers, pets, and even people—can emit upward streamers. This interaction leads to the flash of lightning, a phenomenon that can cause catastrophic damage to structures and loss of life.
How CMCE Technology Prevents Lightning
CMCE technology has been patented since 1916, but it was not until 15 years ago that it became widely utilized for lightning protection. This innovative system prevents lightning strikes within a designated zone by collecting the induced charge from thunderstorm clouds and safely transferring it to the ground. By balancing the electric field strength in the protected area, CMCE significantly reduces the electrical potential difference between the site and the clouds. This reduction suppresses the formation of upward streamers, effectively eliminating the possibility of a leader-streamer connection, which is essential for a lightning strike to occur.
Our exclusive line of CMCE products is formulated with two primary functions: to drain negative electricity from the ground and to neutralize the positive charge of the clouds. With a legacy of over a hundred years and a decade and a half of proven application, CMCE remains at the forefront of lightning protection, ensuring safety and peace of mind for vessels, buildings, and critical infrastructure.
